Red Blonde Guppy

The Red Blonde Guppy (Poecilia reticulata) is a distinctive variety crafted through meticulous selective breeding. These guppies sport a vibrant red body and tail, complemented by a lighter-colored belly.

Originating from South America, they were initially found in mountain streams and brackish rivers. In aquariums, they thrive in peaceful community setups with at least 2 females for each male. Their diet includes flake food and live options like Brine Shrimp. Breeding them is relatively easy, but be prepared for plenty of fry!

The guppy (Poecilia reticulata), also known as millionfish or the rainbow fish, is one of the world's most widely distributed tropical fish and one of the most popular freshwater aquarium fish species. It is a member of the family Poeciliidae and, like almost all American members of the family, is live-bearing.

Guppies are one of the most popular fish in the aquarium hobby because of their brilliant colors, lively personalities, and ease of breeding. Just be sure to provide plenty of hiding spaces and plants for the babies to hide in as the adults do tend to want to eat them! Use gentle filtration like a sponge filter so that the tiny fry won’t get sucked up.

Guppies thrive in clean, well filtered water with neutral pH and eat a variety of food from flakes to pellets and live foods such as brine shrimp, grindal worms and blood worms.

A guppy-only tank is truly an astonishing sight to behold because of their flashy fins and energetic behavior, but you can easily keep them with other peaceful tank mates like cory catfish and neon tetras. Just avoid adding any aggressive fish that may nip their fins or eat them, such as tiger barbs or bala sharks.
